Video: Light aircraft traffic avoidance

20161025_153610In this video, the flying reporter shows how pilots use a good lookout, and air traffic services to avoid mid-air collisions.

I’d spent some time in North Wales, and it was time to fly back home.  I’d parked at Hawarden airport near Chester.  I received an absolutely 1st rate service from Aviation Park Group.

On the flight back I obtained a traffic service from Hawarden, Shawbury and Brize radar because of the position of the sun obscuring my view southbound.  In the video, I explain how that works, the terminology used, and the service’s limitations.
